Scripture Writing/Reading Plans

God has blessed us with His Word and truth in the form of the Holy Bible. In the Word of
God we are able to learn all about the God who created us! Genesis 1:1 tells us that “In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (NIV) Genesis 1:27 says “So God created
mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created
them. (NIV) In the Word of God we get to learn about God’s love for us! 1 John 4:16 says “And
so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. (NIV) In God’s Word we get to
learn about God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to save us from our sins and who
rose to life again! John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV)
When we spend time reading and studying God’s Word we receive instruction from God
on how we are to live our lives in Him and we receive encouragement from the God of all
creation and the God of all comfort! God instructs us to read His Word and to live according to
His Word. For Joshua 1:8 says “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it
day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be
prosperous and successful. (NIV) In order to live according to God’s Word we must know what
His Word says. In order to know what God’s Word says we must read and study His Word.
Psalm 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (NIV)
2 Timothy 3:16 says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work. (NIV)
Scripture writing/reading plans encourage us to spend a little time each day reading
and studying God’s Word. Each month, Good News Indeed will have at least one Scripture
writing/reading plan with a theme for that month. Each plan will have at least one Bible Verse
to read and study each day that relate to the theme for that month. Each plan will also have at
least one Bible Verse to memorize for that month. I encourage everyone to spend even just
minutes a day in the Word of God, for you will be blessed for doing so! Remember, God is
faithful even when we are not! So do not lose heart and do not fret! God is rich in mercy and
grace and He blesses us with both even though we do not deserve either! The more time we
spend in God’s Word the more we learn from His Word. When we know what God’s Word says
we can reference His Word throughout our day and we can be encouraged by His Word
because we know the blessings to which God has called us! So enjoy spending time in God’s
Word and growing in Him!
