Have you ever walked into a completely dark room in the nighttime? It is pitch black, you can’t see a thing and there can sometimes be kind of an eerie feeling with that darkness. Then, you turn the light switch on and suddenly everything is visible, you can see! That eerie feeling is gone and you feel at ease with the light. Are you living in darkness or in light? Without our Savior Jesus living in us, we live in darkness because of our sin. When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, then Jesus lives in our inner being and we have the light of life! For John 8:12 says “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (NIV)
1 John 1:5 says “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is not darkness at all. (NIV) As we read in 1 John, God is light! When Jesus is living in you, then you have the light of life in you! We also read in John 1:4-5 that “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (NIV) And 2 Corinthians 4:6 says “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (NIV) When we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, God shined His light on us so that we were made aware of our sin and God led us to repent and confess our sins and invite Jesus into our hearts and lives as our personal Lord and Savior. God in His grace, has blessed us with our faith in His Son, Jesus, and in His Son we have been forgiven for all of our past, present and future sins for all of eternity and we have received eternal life in Him! Now that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, Jesus lives in our inner being and we have the light of life in us! The light living in you is Jesus! And remember, the light shines into the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it! (1 John 1:4) Jesus is the light of life and the darkness will never overcome Him, for He has conquered sin and death for all of eternity and in Him we have conquered sin and death as well! Jesus conquered sin and death for us!
As children of God, Jesus lives in our inner being and His light shines through us! All of the good in us is Christ in us! Praise God for this incredible blessing, for since the good in us is Christ in us the good in us will never cease! Matthew 5:16 says “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (NIV) Jesus lives in us, in our inner being, and His light is constantly shining in us and through us! Let us be faithful in letting our light shine before all people! Share the love of Christ with all those around you! Let your light shine, for you have the light of life in you!
As a child of God, you have Jesus living in your inner being and you have the light of life in you! So go forth rejoicing in the Lord and be careful to live your life as one who has the light of life shining from within them! We are instructed in Philippians 2:14-16 to “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. (NIV) You are no longer in darkness and you have your Savior, Jesus, the light of life living in you! Put the deeds of darkness behind you and be careful to live in a manner that glorifies God, the God who has redeemed you and called you to eternal life in His Son! Let your light shine before all and share the light of life with everyone around you!
Next time you enter that dark room in the night, think about these truths that you have been reminded of today. If you have Jesus living in you, then you can stand in that pitch black room and be still and calm in the Lord, with a smile on your face, knowing that you have the light of life living in you! Jesus is the light of life living in you and His light constantly shines in you and through you! Let your light shine and enjoy being in the light having eternally escaped the darkness in your Savior Jesus! You never have to fear the dark, for you have Jesus, the light of life, shining within your inner being and His light is shining brightly through you for all to see! With your Savior Jesus living in your inner being, you always have the light with you and in you! Praise God for bringing us into the light of the Son He loves and blessing us with His free gift of Salvation in His Son Jesus!
If you are still living in darkness, then come into the light! Turn to the God who created you and be set free! God loves you perfectly as you are and He wants you to come to Him just as you are in this moment! Do not spend another minute of your life in darkness! Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and be forgiven for all of your past, present and future sins for all of eternity and be reconciled to God! Only in Jesus can we have eternal life and only in Jesus can we escape death and darkness! Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and forever have the light of life living in you!
