Are you weary or burdened? Are you longing for rest and peace? Be encouraged my dear friends because you can in fact have rest and peace! You can have rest for your soul and true peace in your inner being! God alone can give you true rest and inner peace. Matthew 11:28-30 says “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (NIV) As we read in Matthew, God wants us to come to Him as we are, and when we do so He will give us rest. 1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV) God cares for you! God wants you to come to Him, just as you are, in this very moment and He will give you rest! God knows each and every one of us, even better than we know ourselves, because He created us! God created your inmost being and He knows every bit of you even better than you know yourself! God knows everything about you and He loves you perfectly as you are. Not only does God love every bit of your inner being perfectly just as you are but He also loves you with an everlasting love! God’s love for you will never end! Only God can carry your burdens for you and give you true rest, rest for your soul!

1 John 3:19-24 tells us that “This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. (NIV) As we read in 1 John 3, God commands us to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus. No one is perfect and we all sin. (Romans 3:23) Our sin separates us from God and our sin leads to death. (Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23) John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV) Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins, He was buried and then He rose to life again conquering sin and death for all of eternity! (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) We cannot earn salvation and it is impossible for us to save ourselves. Salvation for our soul is only found in Jesus. (Acts 4:12) God has blessed us with His free gift of salvation in His Son, Jesus, and we are to receive this free gift from God by faith. God has blessed us with His free gift of salvation in His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross to save us from our sins and reconcile us to God by the shedding of His blood. God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus is to be received by faith. (Romans 3:25) Romans 10:9 says that “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (NIV) When we come to understand and admit that we are sinners and believe in our hearts that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and that He rose to life again, then we can invite Jesus into our hearts and our lives as our personal Lord and Savior and receive eternal life in Him. Romans 10:10-11 says “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (NIV) If you have come to understand and admit that you are a sinner and if you believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross to save you from your sins and that He rose to life again, then you can invite Jesus into your heart and your life as your personal Lord and Savor and receive eternal life in Him. You can pray a prayer like this:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know that I am a sinner and that I need Jesus to save me. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sins and that He rose to life again. God I am sorry for my sin. I invite Jesus into my heart and my life as my personal Lord and Savior. I commit my life to you.

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
